Ideas are elusive, slippery things. Best to keep a pad of
paper and a pencil at your bedside, so you can stab them
during the night before they get away.

Mother Dear

April 30th, 2002

You are such a unique mother.
Most moms would want their daughter.
But you don’t.
So you won’t
Have my deepest respect or love.
You will be having regrets, muv.

You take your anger out on me
While never thinking, It was he.
And you’re mad.
I once had
Thoughts that I should leave forever,
Now I know it would be better.

Oh, mother! Where is your daughter?
Well, she took in too much water.
Oh, that’s sad.
It’s too bad.
At least she’s in a better place,
All dressed up in funeral lace.
