Zoe’s Journal

Zoe’s Journal
Ideas are elusive, slippery things. Best to keep a pad of
paper and a pencil at your bedside, so you can stab them
during the night before they get away.

Waiting

June 30th, 2003

Waiting, waiting
For nothing to happen.
While the music plays
The only thing moving
Everything standing still.
The songs change again.
Nothing to do and not to say.
It all starts over.
Waiting again.Nothing to do.
I guess I’ll write this
Because nothing’s going on.
Nothing’s going to happen.
There’s no meaning in this.
The song changes again.
The only sign of time.
The blasted music
Garishly sounding
Throughout the open hall
Where I’m waiting.
Waiting for nothing to happen.
