Little Things About You

August 30th, 2006

You sweetly ridicule
passively ignore
pretend not to hear
sarcastically joke
laugh it off
it is, yes, a joke.
as you brainwash
yourself and wonder
what happened to
that person you
once knew.
what happened
why won’t they deign
to speak with you
who are you fooling?
when you ridicule
ignore, mock,
abuse, look past
that person you
imagine is not there
away they go
into their world
to rant and rave
and write these
little things about you

There’s Definitely Something to be Said

August 29th, 2006

… about productivity.

Use it or lose it.

I used it last night… but I think I lost it tonight.

Last night, I filled up a collage picture frame, hung it, studied some for my exam, wrote an email to my grandma, wrote a letter to the twins, burned the twins a cd, went shopping to get a humidifier, and after doing all that, I felt like my evening was a success.

Tonight, the LotR and I went shopping and got several things we needed. Then we came home and ate dinner. Then… I wrapped the twin’s birthday gifts… then I think I just fooled around for a couple of hours on World of Warcraft. I just started studying some more though. And now I’m writing, so the night can’t be a complete waste. Maybe it just feels like it. :(

You ever wonder what your pets would be like if they were human? Something to think about…

I have such extensive To-Do lists…

  • finish that paint-by-number I started in April or May
  • finish studying and take exam (and make an A!)
  • that huge project for the LotR’s dad. That will take a looong time. grr.
  • do a crash course on the LOMA course for work and take the exam, then get the next one.
  • copy about 10 cd’s to the computer.
  • make cd for daddy and mail it
  • mail twin’s birthday present
  • practice keyboard
  • make it to level 40 on WoW.
  • clean the bathroom
  • get to the gym for basketball, or exercise here at home
  • drink more (water, that is)
  • send group email to a bunch of family
  • read Great Expectations and Hunchback of Notre Dame
  • watch Dead Poet Society, Edward Scissorhands, and V for Vendetta. And Finding Neverland.
  • clean desk area
  • replace the tag on my car - the NC one expired last May. I’ve yet to put the AZ one. :-|

GAHHH… relief please? That, or massive doses of caffeine. I’m really thirsty. And tired. I’ll get started on this stuff tomorrow. Or tonight if I can’t sleep.

Peace.

Little White Geese

August 24th, 2006

HELLPPP…. she’s babbling - again. I stayed up too late last night and had to practically drag myself into work by the hair of my head. I cuddled up in my sweater and turned the fan on, propped my feet up on the CPU, and mentally fell asleep while I started the daily routine. Then, in comes the sleek white goose, bright-eyed and talkative. Good Lord, how that lady has been talking all day. Sometimes I don’t even know if she’s talking to me, until I look up and see that bright inquisitive eye upon me. Then I guiltily hasten up and mutter the obligatory ‘oh really?’ or ‘wow’ as she again relates to me her adventures while watering the lawn, her concern over whether the rain will wash away her weed repellent, and her piqued curiosity over who it was that called her house at 5:25 this morning. I’m surprised my ears haven’t sprouted two legs and fled to Mexico.

There. I feel better now.

After work, I headed to the gym to play basketball. Not a good idea. The only things I’ve eaten all day were a glass of juice for breakfast, a quarter of a snack-sized bag of Chex, and an apple pie. You know, those little fruit-filled things you get for like 50 cents. At any rate, I had a good shooting night, then climbed back into the car after an hour and a half of playing. Stick shift is kind of hard to drive when your legs feel like jello.

Anyway, this ham fajita is DAMN good, and the LotR is bringing home sushi. I’m not sure how those will mix, but oh well. When you’re hungry, everything tastes good.

MRI tomorrow… not sure how I feel about that. I don’t even know how long it will take them to read the thing and let me know what’s going on. Don’t they do that while you’re there? Or do they call you later with the news? *shrugs* I just hope that there is something to find - otherwise there would be nothing to fix. At least I get to leave work early to make the appointment.

I read a 450-page book last night… from start to finish. I started at 6, finished at 1:30. That’s why I stayed up so late. Poor LotR. I didn’t pay him any attention at all. :-| I shall remedy that tonight. Or tomorrow. Or both. :)

Acquisitions

August 20th, 2006

This week has been pretty decent. Of course, with the FIL in town, it has been more stressing than usual.

I know I mentioned that I was starting classes at school. Well, those don’t start until September, fortunately. I have promised myself (and the LotR) that I will conscientously study for my final exam this week. I don’t want to get another low grade that I could have prevented.

My thumb is all swollen up… :( Damn hangnails and the need to pick at them.

The FIL has given me a project to work on. He has a ‘hand-out’ that he gives out at his courses. This hand-out is a two-inch thick textbook that he authored and published. My project is to copy the entire thing, page-by-page, from Adobe PageMaker to InDesign. This will take awhile. At least I shall be getting paid!

I finally received all of the packages I had been expecting! My school boks came in, as did birthday gifts for the twins. Also, my two books from Amazon arrived! The Hunchback of Notre Dame (complete and unabridged) and Great Expectations (unabridged). I’m trying to catch up with the great classics. The Lotr and I also went to the bookstore this weekend, where I found a couple of new books. One I have finished already, and the other one is The Complete Grimms Fairy Tales.

You know how most people have a certain kind of pen that they prefer? Well, I couldn’t find mine at Target, the usual place. Why wouldn’t they carry Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball pens? Grr. I like mine in assorted colors. :P The LotR had to stop by Office Max yesterday anyway, so I just picked some up there, along with a new mousepad for work. The one there was soooo nasty. I’ve no idea how old it is…  The new one has black and white kittens on it. :)

Oh! I was also going to mention that in addition to these three classes and the project from the FIL, I also picked the supplies for a class at work. They offer courses, life insurance classes (LOMA) of course, totally free to you as long as you pass the exam. Well, I’m not planning at ever failing anything in my life, so I signed up for one. The good thing about them is that they are not on any schedule. I can take as long (reasonably) or as short a time as I want to finish it. Then, the exam is given right there at work! How handy is that? I’ve heard that the PIC (people in charge) really encourage the peons to take those. Makes for a better chance of advancement. :-)

I slept soo long last night… I went to bed around 2 and slept until 12:30 or so. Granted, I have slept longer than that before (15 hours) but this was so awesome. Except I woke up feeling like I had been flat on my back (or stomach) all night. Didn’t feel that great. I must be getting old. :-/

My cousin Crystal is turning 16 this month. The Lotr and I were invited to her birthday party. So we showed up yesterday at my aunt’s house, gift in hand, only to find out that it wasn’t until NEXT week! How embarassing! hahaha…  **hides**

We’ve also been trying to get everything set up for our wedding next April. I called my family to let them know what they will need to acquire as far as Bahamian entry requirements go. I really hope that everyone can go. We’re paying for the flights and rooms, so I don’t forsee a problem right now…

Tell A Joke

August 16th, 2006

It’s officially the day to tell jokes. :)

I got a funny email a couple of days ago (thanks, Steve) that I think everyone would enjoy.

We’re Off to See the Wizard!!

Four United States Presidents get caught up in a tornado ..
and off they whirled to the
land of OZ.

They finally made it to the Emerald City and went to find the Great Wizard.

What brings the 4 of you before the great Wizard of Oz?

Jimmy Carter stepped forward timidly and said:
 ”I’ve come for some courage.”

No Problem! said the Wizard. Who s next?

Richard Nixon stepped forward,
Well, I think I need a heart.”

“Done! says the Wizard.

Who comes next before the Great and Powerful Oz?”

Up stepped Dubya and said,
“I’m told by the American people that I need a brain.”
“No problem! said the Wizard.
Consider it done.”
Then there is a great silence in the hall.
Bill Clinton is just standing there, looking around,
But he doesnt say a word.
Irritated, the Wizard finally asks,

“Well, what do you want?”

“IS DOROTHY HERE?”
