Me & Emma

January 31st, 2007

emma.jpgI read a book last night. It made me cry. It was so sad. It was fabulous.

Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock.

Why are all of these heart-wrenching child abuse stories set in North Carolina? I really want to know… but I think I already sort of do.

It is an amazing book.

Enough Said.

I don’t even want to write anything else down, so as not to spoil my memories of it, but I shall - because I don’t want to cry myself to sleep again tonight.

Last night we had our first basketball game against a real other team. And we lost. We lost by 13 points. Dammit.

I’m going to study my Spanish while the LotR watches Idiocracy.

Game Night!

January 29th, 2007

This weekend we had a game night… here are some of the highlights. Too bad we didn’t get any pictures of the bar.

Like I said… Ico was faded.

What A Sky!

January 28th, 2007

The LotR and I went to a friend’s wedding this afternoon, and on the way I took some pictures… it was only after I looked at them a second time that I realized what an amazing sky there was!

Just thought I would share… enjoy! I’m off to sleep.

Busy Weekend

January 27th, 2007

Hey, ya’ll.

This weekend is going to be cutting it close for time.

Today at 4:30, the LotR and I are going to a friend’s wedding. After that, we’re having a game night. Sunday morning, I have basketball practice (groans in anticipation of a potentially hung-over practice) and then we’re going to lunch with my aunt and uncle. I still have lots of Spanish to do in order to get caught up… I was going to do two lessons this week, but so far I haven’t even gotten one done. Don’t worry, I’ll still get then finished. After all, nothing is planned for this morning and Sunday evening except for house stuff like laundry and all.

Okay, now I’m going to shower and work on that Spanish!

hasta luego.

A Follow-Up on the Hair Post

January 25th, 2007

So… YES! I did it! I dyed my hair yet again. It’s sort of close to the afore-mentioned plum color. Well, not really. It just looks really dark brownish-red. Here it is:

Oh, and check the new piercing! Finally, after 6 years of procrastination, I just walked into the store, sat down, and had my lobes impaled.

The LotR and I had a fruitful day. I went to work and got off at 3:30 so that we could go together to get my wedding gown altered. They sold me a size 4, so it had be taken in quite a bit - especially the bodice, damnit. We also worked out a way to pin up the train so that it won’t drag on the grass and rocks during the ceremony. After we were finished there, we went across the street to the mall. We went to Macy’s, but I couldn’t find anything there that I wanted to spend money on. So we went to one of those really cheap tacky clothes where I found a cool tube top for house-wear, and a plain gray sweatjacket. Each piece was less than $4. We then went to Claires, well, I went to Claires, and the LotR took his manly self away to the pretzel shop.

I was looking for a specific kind of bracelet. Namely, a band of leather about 3/4-inch thick, either brown or black. I’ve been passively looking for one for the past 2-3 years and have never yet found one. I checked Hot Topic first, because they seemed like a more likely place to have the type I was looking for. They didn’t. Claire’s didn’t either. But they did have a nice sale going on with sweet anklets and toe rings. Buy 10 for $5. So I did. And I also got my ears pierced again. Yes!

Now I’m sleepy. I read a Norah Jones book last night, Midnight Bayou. It was really, really strange. I can easily say it was the strangest Norah Jones’ book I’ve ever read. It kept me up past midnight, hence my sleepiness.

So, buenas noches, amigos.
