Just in case anyone has extra time this holiday, and doesn’t have anything better to do than read a half-done story, here is a link to what I’ve been working on:
Dreamer of Loarne
There is a link at the bottom of each (short) chapter to take you on to the next part of the story.
Right now, going by words-per-page, I have enough for over 50 filled-out paperback book pages. Need at least 250 more! Which won’t be a problem at all.

It’s that time again. I have to admit that I haven’t even seriously thought about any New Years Resolutions. Maybe this means I’m happy with my life right now? Well,my weight is fine, more or less. I’m decently fit, but I could exercise more. I’m happy with my routines, etc… so here is what I have come up with.
finish Dreamers of Loarne by my birthday in March
exercise more regularly
read at least one ‘classic’ book a month. (right now I’m working on the roughly-translated version of Beowulf)
drink more water (I’m kind of chronically dehydrated)
I think that’s all I need to focus on. My food intake has been mostly healthy, with some random marshmallows thrown in, and, of course, chocolate the past two weeks. But I threw away or gave away most of my candy anyway. Sugar isn’t as much of an issue for me as it has been.
Other things that I’ll be working on, but not ‘resolving’ this year include my ZoesFantasy website, keeping up this website, and keeping up classes for college. I start my last Anatomy & Physiology on January 7th - and I’m not looking forward to it at all. I think it’ll be okay though, since my motivation this time around is to learn about the body in relation to writing, ie. what kind of injuries cause which kind of hurt. I could use this in fighting scenes. Last time, I was actually trying to learn more about my body, and I got really bored and frustrated. So maybe I’ll imagine sword fighting barbarians every time I start to get bored. Maybe even this barbarian!

Oh, and with the addition of a swimming pool in our backyard this summer, I hereby resolve to hold several pool parties, complete with chips and beverages for all who are interested!

I’ve been thinking quite a lot lately about writing - about books in general. Today I got a load of disturbing news, and it made me very upset. So, I stewed for bit. And then I stewed some more. (Spider Solitaire with heavy rock works well for stewing.)
Then I called my daddy and talked for a while. He talked about his girlfriend down in Mexico and his almost-5-year-old son, and how he was thinking about moving out there if his job allowed for it. Usually, when he talks about this kind of thing, I get a kind of weird feeling in my stomach, and remember back when he found his girlfriend (he was still married to my mom and his girlfriend is only 5 years older than me), which doesn’t bring back good memories. But today, he was talking about them, and I just felt kind of… well, OK.
I thought about how in my stories, unexpected and life-changing things happen to my characters, but in time, after much anguish and teeth-gnashing (not really), they are OK and move on. Life goes on, y’know? And that’s how I felt then. I felt like it was OK now, and it was time to move on and accept what this book of life has in store.
But I had fight hard against my hot and furious temper to not call my boss and take a leave of absence from work, catch a night flight down to freaking North Carolina and cut off a certain someone’s wigged head, ridding the world of said pestilent cockroach. And also to slap my mother up the side of the head until she learned some sense. But I doubt that would work. She’s got the world’s best shield around her brain - religion. Nothing can penetrate that.
But I could sure work off some angry energy trying!

Just in case you’re bored this lovely Christmas day, here is some reading for you to do.
I’m kind of bored, but only because I have so much to do that I don’t know what to do! Nine lovely new books, and a Sony Reader which can hold about 300 books while actually weighing less than one… I have about 80 text books on there so far. I need a looong vacation to get caught up!
The LotR also bought me a Wii game - sort of a commitment to say that that we’re going to get a Wii soon, since we don’t already have one. I bought him a Wacom tablet - which he told me that he wanted, and then forgot that he’d asked for it, so he was actually surprised when he opened the box, and two XBOX360 games which he wanted. So yeah, we’re having a high-tech Christmas.
The homemade pizza turned out delicious! even though the recipe for the pizza sauce called for tomato paste and we didn’t have any. It still tasted great! Tonight I think I’m going to make a ham with mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. Easy Peasy.
Merry Christmas!
