I had a pretty good day yesterday. But then, on my way out of the parking garage, a perfect stranger smiled at me and topped it off. During my excruciatingly long drive home (all of five minutes!), I thought, “If that one smile makes my day so much better, I should smile at more people.” I mean, yeah, sometimes it’s hard to smile, but other times we’re just sitting around, wanting to get home, not particularly happy, but not particularly sad either. How hard would be it be then to smile at someone? It would probably help lighten your mood somewhat as well?
That’s my cliche for the day.
Today I had another ‘driving home’ moment. I was driving along the road, watching an airplane rise from the airport, past the tall palms and into the cloudless blue sky. How perfect. How lucky I am to live in such a place. Palm trees, of all things. All over the place. Sunny skies. Nice house. Great husband. Good job. Dependable car. Fun friends. Nice clothes. Gym membership. College courses. I am one damn lucky girl!
Now I’m sitting here, waiting for the dryer to get done so that I can put the laundry away and go to bed. I think I’ll go read The God Delusion while I’m waiting.

Organic yogurt really isn’t that bad… though Yoplait tastes that much better. All that sugar. But we’ll see what a week of non-yoplait yogurt does, hmm?
Last night, the LotR and I tried out Picazzo’s, which turned out to amazingly good! Very relaxed atmosphere (think Pita Jungle, for those of you in Phoenix/Tempe) with colorful art deco. I highly recommend their spinach & artichoke dip appetizer, as well as their desserts. YUM. The pizza was awesome too. They made us a half-n-half with one half canadian and the other half margherita. I now love that place - and we’ll have to go back often!
This evening won’t be nearly so much fun as I have to do homework and an essay for my English lit class. The essay should be fun though - I get to write about the Phantom of the Opera! I’ll probably get started on that today during lunch.
And now I have to head to work. Ciao!

Who knew the LotR provided so much entertainment? American Idol is over for the day, and I am left with nothing to do. Sure, I have homework, but I’ve just finished reading most of the assignments for one class and need to digest them. Benjamin Franklin is quite hilarious, actually (three of the assignments were by him). Thomas Paine (he wrote ‘Common Sense’) also has a very interesting life and viewpoints.
I am pumped though, for March 6th. On that day, Richard Dawkins will be giving a lecture at ASU - free, and open to the public. We’re definitely going!
But anyway, as I was saying, American Idol is over and it’s only 9:00. I’ve done my reading, and nothing good is on TV. I’ve done my exercise for the day, and my writing. I could do more of the writing, but my brain is kind of fried right now. I could read, but recently recognized that I have a serious problem putting down a book once I’ve started it. This has resulted in far too many ‘very late’ nights and being exhausted at work the next day.
Last night I had to drive to Walgreen’s to purchase a wrist brace. Over the weekend, I slept on it wrong, all curled into itself, and on Monday at work, the situation got worse, so that merely collating papers hurt. Not to mention, that’s my driving and writing hand, so that aggravated it even more. Meh. Hopefully it will fix itself in the next few days.
There’s not even anything really to clean! I usually immediately clean my messes when I’m home alone (as opposed to when the LotR is home - he usally cleans up after me), so the dirty dishes are already in the dishwasher, clothes in the hamper.
There is really only more hour before bedtime, and that’s not enough to read or start a game. Can’t exercise or my heart rate will go up and I’ll never get to sleep, lol. Any ideas?
