The grumpiest, most demanding man I’ve ever had to work with in my life is going to be sooo pleased with me after I finish talking with him tomorrow. And no, it’s not anyone you know. He lives in Detroit - for those of my coworkers who read this, you’ll know who I’m talking about. I am anticipating this moment with relish.
After work this afternoon, I went shopping because it’s my little niece’s first birthday today! And, yeah, I didn’t remember in time, so I went shopping today. Instead of last week. Sorry, Bethany. Anyway, I had fun going through all those baby clothes. Yeah. And toys. And books! Kids books are awesome. “This is Gossy. Gossy is a gosling.” Hey, it was a cute book!
On my way home, I called up the LotR and we met at Zen 32 for delicious sushi. YUM.
It’s been about two hours since I got home, and I’ve finished all of my homework for both classes due this week, AND written a new book review for Zoe’s Fantasy!
I also got the next lessons lined up so that I can work on them this weekend (and hopefully finish them). I figure I’m going strong because I got some awesome sleep last night and the night before! Sleep is amazingly good.
Since I’ve got my desk-work and creative work done for tonight, I may just go clean the house a bit. And then come back and do another book review. Maybe.

Sometimes at work, when I check my voicemailbox, I get some pretty funny messages. This one topped the cake.
*imagine a gentle, cultured, elderly lady’s modulated grandma voice*
“Hi… uh, Mr McCain, I hope you get this message. We’re, uh, myself and a group of peole are very concerned… there is a new thing circulating in Congress with Nancy Pelosi. And, uh, she… she is behind it. They are trying to make a 10-cent tax on gas! For goodness sake, we are already paying over $4 at the pump! And she refuses to let anything go through about drilling anywhere. There must be some way you can get around Nancy Pelosi and shut her up [said very politely]. She is so afraid that Republicans are going to get credit for anything that she refuses… and she listens to these special interest groups and things. It- it’s really sad. And you know something? We are getting tired of the fact you’re not digging hard enough at Barack Obama. We need to stop this man! This MAN, has got horrible policies - he’s so liberal, and he says whatever he thinks someone is going to want to hear, whatever group he’s at. But we know, if he gets in the White House, that he will implement these policies! [pause] Why can’t we drill today and be energy-sufficient in a few years? And it’s been proven that it’s not going to take ten years to get this taken care of! Why is it nobody pushes that hard enough? We need to get out there. More messages need to be sent, and you need to go after Barack Obama’s policies! They’re horrible! This man has horrible policies! Why are you guys so afraid of him? For heaven’s sake, if you don’t go after him, we’re going to be putting him in the White House! The press people don’t pay any attention to you people now; what does it take for you to wake up and realize that he is… uh… a big problem? Please! Do something about Nancy Pelosi, and do something about Barack Obama! And for heaven’s sakes, stop listening to Al Gore about global climate change! We’re really tired of that, too. We believe that climate change is a farce - and… and we’re getting it shoved in our face every time we turn around. For
God’s sake, please stop this stuff! I hope you get this message, because there are 500 people who are angry, and I’m talking to more people who are angry about it, too. These things are irritating to us! And they’re not pushed hard enough… and we are so sick of Nancy Pelosi , I wish to heck there was some way we could yank her out of that office - she is horrible! [pause]Thank you.”
[long 30-40 second pause as I wonder if she’s gone or actually still hanging on the line]
“Please, Mr McCain, please! Drill now! Please push that through. Please go after Nancy Pelosi and get her to shut up! We are sick of Nancy Pelosi and we’re sick of her stopping every bill that’s good. And please sir, stop this damn global climate stuff. There’s a lot of people who believe that’s a farce! We do not believe that man created this mess… as… as they like to say. Al Gore just went out and said a bunch of lies. They aren’t true. There’s a lot of stuff. He has a vested interested in alternative things, so he’s going to be pushing climate change or climate whatever-you-want-to-call-it, as hard as he can. And for God’s sake, do something about talking to people about Barack Obama! Please put it out there that his policies are terrible! We’re scared to death he is going to become president of the
United States! And we’re sick and tired of Nancy Pelosi! I wish I could stick a sock in her mouth or something! She keeps putting herself between good bills and stopping them….”
[here the voicemail message timer kicks her off after the 5 minute limit]
I couldn’t keep a straight face for half an hour afterward.

Wow. It has been a whole week since my last update. Let’s see what happened:
Monday - nothing
Tuesday - I may have glanced at my homework & then decided to play a game.
Wednesday - did some homework while watching SYTYCD
Thursday - I went to a friend’s spa-product party
Friday - super-tired… went to work, came home to finish homework, then went to see BATMAN!
Saturday - super-tired & weird… slept alot. Messed around online.
Sunday. Yesterday I was feeling more like my normal self. The LotR and I went to Pita Jungle to grab some lunch, and then went grocery shopping. I had to pick up some magazines for my new class, and ended up with a couple of new novels as well. Which, as soon as I got home and unpacked, culminated in my picking one out, carrying it out to the pool, and finishing it around 10. Which is when I made dinner. mmm…. pesto pasta with roasted chicken and italian dressing.
One of the downsides of eating so late is that the next morning, I am always ravenous. But I’m sticking with my goold ‘ole yogurt and juice.

… and well, they should. I just placed my third or fourth order with them in the past week and a half.
This time, though, it was legit. It was for a schoolbook, that I found cheaper than what was sold at the college. One of the other purchases was legit - that included the AP Stylebook for my own purposes, and the Devil’s Dictionary - also for my own purposes.
So. See? I bought at least 2… wait. Actually, I bought 3 writing books. And one book of short stories by Ambrose Bierce (author of the Devil’s Dictionary). These should be interesting as I learn more about writing - did I mention that I started a new class at Rio Salado? Introduction to Magazine Writing. It looks FUN. I mean, the entire final exam is an article. *drools*
Anyway.
And then… the other purchases were NOT so legit - these included Purely Pleasure books. Like Dragonlance. I got a lot of those. A LOT.
And some other book by Terry Brooks. It’s more than ’some other book’ to me, but most people I know don’t read Terry Brooks, so it stands to reason that you’re not interested, right?
Right.
I should just quit typing now and go play a video game or something. Because I have NO MORE BIOLOGY!
*so thrilled*

Yesterday I finished the book I was reading, and then went straight through three more. I completed a whole trilogy! Terry Brooks is just as awesome as ever.
And still I managed to do 4 loads of laundry, cook dinner (taco salad), and go grocery shopping. And, yes, I swam a bit, too. Then the day became rainy - perfect sunday for lounging on the couch!
At some point this weekend, I wondered out loud to the LotR why I haven’t used my treadmill for so long. It’s been weeks! I figured out it was because, even though I purposely set the alarm early enough to exercise, the LotR can hear it before me, and hits snooze. So instead of waking at 6:15, I normally wake around 7. Not to mention, if I do hear the alarm, I usually groan and roll toward him, and he soothes away the pain of waking by stroking my skin… putting me right back to sleep. Last night I asked him to let the alarm go off for just a bit longer until I wake up. It worked! And the purpose of this entire paragraph is to let you know, my reader, that I did in fact get on the treadmill this morning. And it felt great.
The whole getting-up-early thing has also obviously allowed me time to write this post, but also time enough to cook and eat a healthy, delicious breakfast of 1 egg, yogurt, and juice.
Yum.
