Finally Home for Good

October 29th, 2008

I really don’t care to travel anywhere for a least a good month or more. Except for the Cirque du Soleil show coming in late November.

I am so tired not being able to connect to the internet in large cities. You’d think that the hotels I stayed in would at least offer free internet service to their clients, but Nooo… fortunately, there were pretty avid nightlifes in Vegas & Chicago, though.

But I am finally back online and checking all my ‘netz’ stuff. Speaking of the internets, I canceled my WoW subscription once again (sorry, Ashley). Reason? Well, I started it back up because I was finishing up a class and planned to take the rest of the year off from school.

However, at the airport this morning, I realized that I was going to get freaking bored without school, so while I was sitting there, I called Registration and signed up for two more English classes: 1) Children’s Literatue, and 2) Introduction to the Formation of languages, or something that is basically etymology. Which I love. I figure both classes are pretty applicable to my interests.

So. That’s that.

I only slept one hour last night and have been up ever since, so I am going to take a hot bath and go straight to bed. Ciao.

Las Vegas!

October 27th, 2008

Question for the Dr.:

“I woke up this morning with a parched throat, throbbing head and unexplained bruises after spending the night with really strange dreams about neon lights, blaring beats and cuban guys from LA. What’s wrong with me?!”

Possible Explanation: “Lay off the hallucinogens, ma’am.”

More Plausible Hypothesis: “Have you been in Las Vegas recently?”

**pause**

“Well, yes. As a matter of fact, I have!”

(and many things happened which now allow me to answer ‘yes’ to more of those ‘have you ever done’ myspace surveys. ahem.)

((… all while remaining a good, faithful hausfrau to the LotR and not making the bank account go bankrupt.))

Mayhaps some photos will follow - due to the downing of 3/4 a bottle of cherry vodka before even venturing out of the hotel room, I may have forgotten about my camera for the majority of the trip.

Highlights included the Cirque du Soleil show, Zumanity, the club at the Luxor, and the awesome bangles I found for $6 at H&M.

Days Go By

October 22nd, 2008

It seems that just yesterday was May, and yet next week will introduce November. I can tell that winter is coming because my hair is becoming increasingly static-y.

At times, I wonder where the time has gone, and then I think back and remember that each week has flown by. Like this week, for example. Work is busy, so time flies there. Then I have the gym… after that, it’s evening and one day is gone. And each day this week so far, the LotR and/or I have been busy with other things after work. Last night after our martial arts class, we rushed to celebrate the LotR’s father’s 65th birthday. We got home around 9:30. Today after the gym, I rushed to meet friends for a shopping trip. After they left, I went to a couple of other stores to pick up some kitchen stuff. Okay, okay. And shoes. Tomorrow I have martial arts and also need to pick up some dry-cleaning along with jeans that I had to get hemmed up.

Speaking of jeans, I am a firm believer that clothes-makers and tailors have formed a diabolical team. I bought another pair of jeans tonight. I held the waist up to my boobs and the bottom cuffs still brushed the floor. Amazing.

Again, speaking of jeans, the pair I got tonight is a whole size smaller than what I had been wearing! I had been wearing a 27-waist… my new pair is a delightfully-fitting (except for the length) size 26. I guess all that dieting and working out has paid off! Let’s see how they hold up after this weekend trip to Vegas…

Now, I’m terribly tired. Hopefully I’ll have something more exciting to post later this weekend :)

Eventful Firsts

October 20th, 2008

This weekend has been fraught with firsts, and promises for more have been made.

On Saturday, I went with a couple of friends to the Arizona State Fair for the first time ever. There, we enjoyed the sights, fair food, and a free concert by Weezer prefaced by Angels & Airwaves. It was in the Coliseum, which was packed to the brim. We stayed out until 11:30, and then decided to visit Bourbon Street, one of the higher-end ‘quality establishments’ featuring lots of naked flesh.

That turned out to be quite entertaining, even though the LotR turned down an invitation to join (he also pulled a turncoat on the fair as well, which he had previously promised to attend with me, opting instead to stay home and work). At any rate, after enjoying the sights there, I got home around 1:30am and promptly fell asleep. But then woke up two hours later because either the corndog at the fair or the fudge was baaad… and I spent about half an hour in the bathroom ridding myself of whatever-it-was. Not fun.

Today was rather languid, apart from a moment of panic around 10am when the LotR announced, ‘Panic! My dad is going to be here in 5 minutes!‘ because I hadn’t showered or dressed and the house looked like a small tornado passed through. Nevertheless, since I am a relative-by-marriage to Wonder Woman and the LotR is her son, the house was in decent shape and I was showered and dressed and in the kitchen by the time the F-i-L arrived.

After that, I spent some time finishing up my very last paper for my very last class this year. Unless I get bored and start another. I’ll ship it off tomorrow, and then have lots of time to work on other things. :)

This coming weekend, it has been planned that a few girls and I will be visiting Las Vegas - another first for me. We plan to drive out on Friday… and nothing has been planned beyond that yet, except maybe a visit to Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity if seats are available.

It’s almost midnight, so I should go empty the dryer and put the laundry away.

Rigged. Totally.

October 17th, 2008

Well, I was taking random quizzes on Facebook while waiting for my delicious cornbread to finish baking so I can stuff my stomach with cornbread and soup (finally, no more salmon!)…. but I digress.

I was taking random quizzes on Facebook, but I think they’re rigged or something. Because on ‘What’s your Best Quality’? the result-o-meter declared that I, ZoeJane, am ‘Outgoing’.

Think again!

Silly Facebook Quizzes.

Wonder if the trainer will be mad if I have butter on my cornbread?
