Zoe’s Journal

So, this weekend was very eventful/busy/productive. On Friday night after work, I worked on my essay for my American Literature class. All about the sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards. I can tell you that I wasn’t very happy with the subject matter. But anyway, I got the rough draft done and submitted, and spend the remainder of the night catching up on the required reading for that week.

On Saturday we slept until 11 or so, then woke up to do five hours of shopping… we went to CostCo, Target, and the grocery store… ending up with lots of groceries to fill our dwindling larder, about 5 movies, some kitchen gadgets and other what-nots. That evening, we completely cleaned both bathrooms, and I even moved our ‘medicine cabinet’ to the closet and got rid of lots of old sheets and towels and stuff.

Today, Sunday, we walked over to the local greenhouse/nursery and came back with a very nice tropical tree thing, a cactus thing (to take the place of the bamboo I accidentaly killed last week), and a hummingbird feeder. We spent several hours in the backyard, raking up old leaves, picking grapefruit from a neighboring tree, checking on the status of the LotR’s ‘Earth Boxes’ (he’s growing tomatoes, herbs, and jalepeno peppers), watching the kitties roll around in the dirt, and mowing what little grass there was. Then I came inside, started the laundry, and bought thirteen books on Amazon.com (all of them classics like Middlemarch, or stuff by Richard Dawkins). Then I started to read a good book while the LotR cleaned our floors.

Now it’s 8:30 and we have both cleaned up somewhat. The LotR is grilling some steaks, and I am about to go eat them.

The LotR and I went tonight to a video-game themed Halloween party hosted by his friends at Flashbang Studios. We all got to dress up like video game characters, and it was fun (especially after a few drinks...)! Here are the pictures (again, click for larger size).

Too much going on here to say.

Yes, my dearies. I have succumbed once again. What a great way to pass a leisurely Saturday.

I just made a mojito - from scratch! It actually tastes good too. Aren’t you so proud of me?

This week at work is sooo slooooowww… I was so bored today. But! I found something to do with assembling supplies for the next meeting in North Carolina. And, right before 5, I finished them! Because I am one tuff gal, yep.

When I got home after work today, I threw a couple of baking potatoes in the oven and headed off to ‘the gym’ (ie. the spare bedroom). After running 1.3 miles and sweating like a horse, I hopped off the so-called hamster wheel and showered. That’s when the idea for a mojito came into play. And now I’m sitting here at my desk sipping the deliciously cool drink, waiting for the baked potatoes to be finished baking.

The plan for tonight involves Spanish, spanish, spanish. But hey! Only 3 more weeks of the subject and I’ll be free of it for my entire life! After the Spanish, I like to think that I’ll get started on my character analysis essay for English. But who knows… I might just start analyzing characters in Dungeon Siege!

Time to go ready dinner.

The LotR sent me this awesome link today. It’s for a game called Chore Wars.
Basically, you form a party with all members of your household, create some ‘adventures’ (chores), choose the percentage of times treasure drops or you have to fight monsters. For example:

Bathe Cats

* medium strength, high constitution, high dexterity, high charisma, low intelligence, low wisdom
* between 70 and 80 gold pieces
* 30% chance of treasure (water sprite,crystal droplet,diamond)
* 40% chance of a wandering monster (hopping flea,giant tick,anus worm,ferocious cat)

I got to pick everything on there from the stats to number of gold pieces rewards and names of the monsters and treasures. Players keep track of their stats and develop their characters with the XP gained from the chores! I am pumped - I already have 60xp!
