Look no further. For I have found a most excellent author. Patrick Rothfuss. His prose is like music. Just thinking about his story makes me want to cry. The book I’ve read of his is ‘The Name of the Wind’, and it is simply awe-inspiring. I would give up a minor bodypart to be able to write as well, and as poignantly, as he.
I finished the afore-mentioned book about a month ago… and have been digesting it slowly. I’ve been meaning to write a book review ever since I finished, and tonight, I finally did. No review can do this book justice. Unless maybe he reviewed it himself.
Tonight I also finally got around to scouting for new fiction for the Whimsy Rag, and found at least three very promising writers on WritersCafe.org.
At last! I can now read ‘Inkheart’ without the need to write a book review for ‘The Name of the Wind’ hanging over my head. It is to become a movie soon! January 23rd, to be exact. I’m only four chapters in, but I love it already for the author’s obvious love of books. You have to read Inkheart if you like books
In other news, it’s Thanksgiving this week. I had to explain to the LotR what exactly Thanksgiving is about, since he’s from Sweden and didn’t know any better. It’s basically just a day to gorge yourself, right? But no, I told him all about the Pilgrims and Sasquatch or whatever-his-name-was, and Squanto. Squanto? Was that an Indian name? It’ll do.
Now it’s time for me to go to bed and dream about elegant phrases and music.

Wow. I used to be really freaking shy. (taken just about 4 years ago)

Sarah wasn’t. Look at those evil eyes.

This one is just funny.

Family will recognize this one.

It’s amazing what one can get done once one forces oneself to do it! My freaking Children’s Literature chapter three was over 100 pages long! But… I read it. Well, skimmed over the last 40 pages or so. Can you say ‘exhaustion’? I wanted to go take a hot bath right then. BUT. I made myself start the homework questions. I wasn’t going to finish them… just get started. But every time I started to stop, it just felt kind of… lazy.
So I finished all of those awful questions. Two whole pages of very small handwritten text. Now to put them in electronic format and submit them…
Still to go? A 500-700 word essay on six children’s picture books and a project proposal for my other class.
I’m trying to get this all done because the LotR and I are going up to Prescott this weekend to catch Saltimbanco by Cirque du Soleil. We’ll be staying with friends in a cabin that night. Fun!
My diet the past two days has gone kaput… thanks, Papa John’s pizza and spicy buffalo wings
I’ll be back to fish and salads tomorrow.

I came home from work around noon today feeling sluggish, groggy and achy, which has been a pretty constant feeling since Saturday, except today is worse. I’m just glad I’m not stopped up *knocks on wood* or nauseous *triple knocks on wood*. After getting home, I cleaned up the kitchen a little, ate my lunch, and went straight to bed, where I slept for 3 hours next to a curled up Kameo cat.
I slept a lot yesterday too… had a 5 hour nap and then bed at the regular time.
Hm…
There may be a fever involved. This calls for a delectable hot bath and hot cocoa.

This weekend has been pretty tiring, I’ll admit. Saturday morning, the LotR and I woke to make up a session of martial arts. Since the weather was so nice outside, we walked across the road to a park where we learned ‘horse stances’ and ‘front horse stances’. These really make the thighs burn! Not to mention, mine were already sore from my regular workout Friday evening.
After our lesson, we went to Safeway to do our grocery shopping, came home to put away the groceries, and ended up lounging in the backyard sun for an hour or so. I came back in to finish up some homework, and later that night we went to a friend’s 30th birthday party, where a large heavy mirror fell down onto the LotR’s head. Afterward, I joined some of them for a night at Martini Ranch, which was fun until it ended. I got home around 2am, and woke up with a grand hangover just in time for a 10:00 hike up South Mountain this morning.
The hike itself was good - I can’t remember the last time I’ve been able to run that far without stopping. I must have actually ran a total of 2.5-3 miles (entire hike was 6 miles).
We ordered Pita Jungle for lunch and sat in the sun enjoying said food. Then it was shower and nap time… now it’s 6:30 and I just woke up from that nap.
Sigh. I have some homework due tomorrow that I should really do tonight… and I don’t feel like cooking that delicious tilapia in the refrigerator. Maybe I’ll just finish reading my book.
P.S. Oh! I forgot to mention that I finally go a new phone - a lovely, red Blackberry pearl. Mmmmm.
I do like it.
