Acquisitions

August 20th, 2006

This week has been pretty decent. Of course, with the FIL in town, it has been more stressing than usual.

I know I mentioned that I was starting classes at school. Well, those don’t start until September, fortunately. I have promised myself (and the LotR) that I will conscientously study for my final exam this week. I don’t want to get another low grade that I could have prevented.

My thumb is all swollen up… :( Damn hangnails and the need to pick at them.

The FIL has given me a project to work on. He has a ‘hand-out’ that he gives out at his courses. This hand-out is a two-inch thick textbook that he authored and published. My project is to copy the entire thing, page-by-page, from Adobe PageMaker to InDesign. This will take awhile. At least I shall be getting paid!

I finally received all of the packages I had been expecting! My school boks came in, as did birthday gifts for the twins. Also, my two books from Amazon arrived! The Hunchback of Notre Dame (complete and unabridged) and Great Expectations (unabridged). I’m trying to catch up with the great classics. The Lotr and I also went to the bookstore this weekend, where I found a couple of new books. One I have finished already, and the other one is The Complete Grimms Fairy Tales.

You know how most people have a certain kind of pen that they prefer? Well, I couldn’t find mine at Target, the usual place. Why wouldn’t they carry Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball pens? Grr. I like mine in assorted colors. :P The LotR had to stop by Office Max yesterday anyway, so I just picked some up there, along with a new mousepad for work. The one there was soooo nasty. I’ve no idea how old it is…  The new one has black and white kittens on it. :)

Oh! I was also going to mention that in addition to these three classes and the project from the FIL, I also picked the supplies for a class at work. They offer courses, life insurance classes (LOMA) of course, totally free to you as long as you pass the exam. Well, I’m not planning at ever failing anything in my life, so I signed up for one. The good thing about them is that they are not on any schedule. I can take as long (reasonably) or as short a time as I want to finish it. Then, the exam is given right there at work! How handy is that? I’ve heard that the PIC (people in charge) really encourage the peons to take those. Makes for a better chance of advancement. :-)

I slept soo long last night… I went to bed around 2 and slept until 12:30 or so. Granted, I have slept longer than that before (15 hours) but this was so awesome. Except I woke up feeling like I had been flat on my back (or stomach) all night. Didn’t feel that great. I must be getting old. :-/

My cousin Crystal is turning 16 this month. The Lotr and I were invited to her birthday party. So we showed up yesterday at my aunt’s house, gift in hand, only to find out that it wasn’t until NEXT week! How embarassing! hahaha…  **hides**

We’ve also been trying to get everything set up for our wedding next April. I called my family to let them know what they will need to acquire as far as Bahamian entry requirements go. I really hope that everyone can go. We’re paying for the flights and rooms, so I don’t forsee a problem right now…
