Dream a Book - Episode One

December 18th, 2007

So folks, I dreamt a story last night. And boy, is it a story! I got quotes, scenarios, attitudes, personalities, politics and world history from this dream - an entire original world with complete characters! What a stroke of luck! Now I’m just trying to write it all down into a fleshed-out epic.

See, this has happened before, where I dream dreams that aren’t 1st person - rather, it’s like I’m reading a book - a really good book - in real life. Except it’s a dream, so sort of like a movie. But it’s a book. Because, subconciously I’m paying attention to the details, trying to imagine how I will describe this… and today, I woke up and elatedly tried to tell the LotR all about it, but he was having none of it and pulled the blanket up over his face, so I ran to my desk, grabbed a notebook and jotted down a whole page about the story. During my lunch hour at work today, I managed to finish an entire notebook page of the story - and more afterwards. I’m so excited!

And then I got home from work and logged onto writerscafe.com (my favoritest website ever, now), and what do you know! The writer of a really awesome fantasy story that I read on there is actually published and his book is on Amazon! And he was talking to me! It’s awesome - I’m going to talk to him some more to get some idea of how he got started (he’s self-published) and stays inspired and creative.

GAH! I’m excited! *gnaws knuckles*

Oh, here is the first part of my story. Lots more to come!
